Our artistic director: Dr. Ian Yeung 楊顯基博士
楊顯基博士早年畢業於香港中文大學音樂系，並分別於二零零二及零六年於北德州大學 (University of North Texas) 完成合唱指揮碩士及博士學位。在修業時，他師承於Jerry McCoy, Henry Gibbons (合唱指揮) 及Anshel Brusilow，Ronn Cummings (樂團指揮)。他獲得助教獎學金及研究生獎學金，並在校內任教指揮學及擔任男聲合唱團的指揮。楊氏於九八年至零二年間於美西南浸會神學院 (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary) 修習聖樂及崇拜學碩士課程。
在二零一一年，楊氏開始任教於Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts，並成為Singing Girls of Texas的音樂總監，帶領這隊出眾的女聲合唱團在不同地方作巡迴演出。在零一至一一年這十年間他曾任教於 University of Texas at Dallas，North Lake College及Vernon College。在零六年與一二年間他是達拉斯亞裔青年交響樂團 ( DAAYO) 的指揮。在零八年十月，楊氏更創立了Vernon Choral Society，並成為其音樂總監。當中團員包括有大專及高中學生、教授及當地音樂家。 現時他也是華聲合唱團的音樂總監。
楊氏的音樂才華及指揮的技巧亦在不同的音樂節被肯定。在零一年，他於Dennis Keene Festival被挑選為 Conducting Fellow。在次年 Oregon Bach Festival，他再次成為Conducting Fellow，隨指揮大師Helmuth Rilling 修習指揮。其後亦跟隨多位合唱指揮家學習如：Simon Carrington，Anton Armstrong，Maria Guinand，James Jordan，Alan Harler 及 John Alexander。
此外，楊氏早在十六嵗時已開始參與教會音樂事工，在香港及美國不同的教會，他擔任管風琴及鋼琴伴奏，以及帶領崇拜。除指揮合唱團及樂團外，他亦是鍵盤樂手。他曾為多個樂團的鋼琴，風琴及古鍵琴伴奏如：UNT A Cappella，Canticum Novum，Concert Choir，Collegium，Recital Choir 及 Denton Bach Society。
Dr. Ian Yeung received his master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting at University of North Texas where he held Teaching Fellowships to teach undergraduate conducting as well as directing the Men’s Chorus. He studied under Jerry McCoy and Henry Gibbons, and had classes of orchestral conducting with Anshel Brusilow and Ronn Cummings. During his master’s studies at UNT, Dr. Yeung concurrently pursued a master’s degree in Music Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth.
Dr. Yeung recently accepted the appointment as the Artistic Director of the Singing Girls of Texas, Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, and starts the leadership of this prestigious auditioned ensemble from the 2011 season. Prior to this, he obtained a music faculty position at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), North Lake College, and Vernon College. Besides teaching commitments, Dr. Yeung is now serving as the Artistic Director of Dallas Chinese Choral Society, and was the conductor of Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra in 2006-2012. In 2008 he also founded and established The Vernon Choral Society which makes up of high school and college students, college faculty, and local professional musicians.
Dr. Yeung’s music talents and conducting skills are honored and refined as an active participant of the national choral workshops. In 2001, he was chosen to join as one of the conducting fellows in the Dennis Keene Festival. In the following year, he had the privilege to study and conduct excerpts from Bach’s Weihnachts Oratorium under Maestro Helmuth Rilling in the Oregon Bach Festival. Throughout the years in the United States, he has had numerous opportunities to study with national renowned choral conductors, such as Simon Carrington, Anton Armstrong, Maria Guinand, James Jordan, Dennis Keene, Alan Harler, and John Alexander.
